Is your product packaging recyclable?
We're always looking for ways to be better to our planet. Currently, our bottles are produced with 50% post-consumer recycled plastics, our cardboard tubes and backer cards are recyclable, and fully depressurized aerosol spray cans in our line are made from recyclable steel. Just look at the number inside the little recycling symbol on the back of the product to learn how to best recycle it and check your local recycling guidelines to see if you can recycle that number in your area, as it varies from state to state. Remember to remove caps, fully empty and wash out containers (if possible) before tossing them in the recycling bin.

CLEANING & PROTECTION
Are Clean Machine Bike Wash and Quick Clean Express Wash safe on matte finish frames?
Are Clean Machine Bike Wash and Quick Clean Express Wash safe on matte finish frames?
Absolutely! Both of our wash formulations have been rigorously tested to be safe on all the most common frame materials and finish paints and coatings. Clean Machine Bike Wash is aimed at deep cleaning and can be applied to your entire bike while our Express Wash is formulated with a hydrophobic protective coating to resist mud and dirt build up for easier subsequent cleaning. Because of this, we recommend that you don’t apply Express Wash to your brakes and rotors.
Are Clean Machine Bike Wash and Quick Clean Express Wash safe to use on disc brakes?

Do I have to dilute the bike washes before use?
Do I have to dilute the bike washes before use?
No, our washes are formulated to have the ideal pH and chemistry to get your bike sparkling clean without etching your bike’s finish. Even the water we use to craft our formulas is deionized and highly filtered through reverse osmosis in order to ensure a spotless clean.
Are the Clean Machine Bike Wash and Quick Clean Express Wash cleaner safe on carbon frames?
Are the Clean Machine Bike Wash and Quick Clean Express Wash cleaner safe on carbon frames?
100%. We put our products through a litany of tests to ensure that they not only work but do so without any harm to your beloved bikes. Our only recommendation is to avoid spraying Express Wash on your brakes and rotors since it leaves a protective hydrophobic coating wherever you apply it that may affect the performance of your brakes.
Should I wash my bike warm or cold?
Should I wash my bike warm or cold?
Bike wash only works when it is in a fluid state and in contact with your dirty frame. As such, applying any wash to a hot surface decreases its efficacy since it will dry out quickly. Our washes and cleaners have thixotropic formula (fancy science stuff that means it stays where you spray) that ensures that our wash doesn’t just run off your frame and onto the floor. This allows it the time it needs for a deep clean without heavy scrubbing. So, we recommend that you wash your bike on a comfortable day in a shady area to let our washes do the hard work for you.
Should I pre-rinse my bike before using Clean Machine Bike Wash or Quick Clean Express Wash ?
Should I pre-rinse my bike before using Clean Machine Bike Wash or Quick Clean Express Wash ?
Pre-rinsing is a great way to get rid of loose and heavy debris, and cools your bike down on hot days allowing our wash to work longer without drying up. For on-the-go washes, our Express Wash does not require a pre-rinse and is designed as a Spray-Wipe-Go formula. We recommend using our Clean Machine Bike Wash for deep cleaning on very dirty bikes and using our Express Wash for quick cleans that keep your bike looking fresh and making subsequent washes easier.
How long should I leave the washes on for to clean my bike?
How long should I leave the washes on for to clean my bike?
For best results using our Clean Machine Bike Wash, we recommend allowing 5-10 minutes for the wash to work. After that, simply rinse away the dirt and gunk. If needed for stubborn grime, apply a second time, allow to work for 5-10 minutes, and scrub with a soft brush or cloth, if needed, then rinse.
When using our Express Wash, simply spray on, allow to work for 3-5 minutes, and wipe away.
For both washes, be sure to apply them out of the way of direct sunlight and heat, and to apply to a cool frame. This helps to ensure that the wash fluid will not dry out. Dried up wash won't cause any harm to your bike, but it loses it's ability to break up dirt, grease, and grime.
Are electric bikes safe to wash with water?
Are electric bikes safe to wash with water?
Electric bikes and their components are designed to be highly water resistant. All of our cleaners and washes have been thoroughly tested to not damage seals or mess with electronics. When washing your eBike, be certain that all batteries, ports, and latches are properly secured to avoid water ingress. Alternatively, you can exercise extra caution by using our Express Wash for a spray and wipe option. Additionally, our Power Drive Chain Lube is formulated to work as an electrical contact conditioner to keep your contacts corrosion free and working optimally.
Can Ride + Shine Finish Protectant & Rejuvenator be used on my car or motorcycle?
Can Ride + Shine Finish Protectant & Rejuvenator be used on my car or motorcycle?
You bet! We have found it to work well for a number of surfaces. Be sure to test it in a small and inconspicuous location to ensure that it gives the results you’re looking for. Cleans up easily with our wash products.
Can Ride + Shine be used on my matte finish carbon frame?
Can Ride + Shine be used on my matte finish carbon frame?
Yes! Ride + Shine is compatible with all frame materials and finish coats bringing back that showroom shine. On matte surfaces, we recommend spraying onto our Ultra-Premium Microfiber cloth first, then wiping down your frame for the most even application and a satin finish. Be sure to avoid overspray onto rotors or braking surfaces.
What does "thixotropic" mean and why does it set Formula 100 washes and degreaser apart from the competition?
What does "thixotropic" mean and why does it set Formula 100 washes and degreaser apart from the competition?
Thixotropic means a fluid or gel's viscosity decreases when stress is applied, like when stirred or sprayed. Thixotropic materials can change from a gel-like state to a liquid-like state when force is applied and will return to a more solid state when the force is removed.
For our washes this means that they are more gel-like when no force is present and more liquid when experiencing a force.
How does this benefit you and your bike? Our washes stay where you spray them instead of quickly running off your bike and puddling on the ground.
Inside our bottles, the wash is more gel-like. As you spray, it becomes liquid, giving optimal coverage and penetrating into the nooks and crannies of your frame. Once the wash settles, it returns to a gel state allowing the wash the time it needs for our Smart pH Chemistry to gently clean and lift away dirt and crud from your frame.
This means you get better cleaning with less waste and less effort.
CHAIN LUBES & DRIVETRAIN CLEANER
How do I choose the correct chain lube?
How do I choose the correct chain lube?
We have a full article diving deep into this answer but the short answer is based on your riding conditions:
Speed Blend Dry Conditions Chain Lube - ideal for dry and dusty conditions where it is important to avoid dust sticking to your chain and causing excess friction.
Speed Blend All Conditions Chain Lube - best for mixed conditions where you are more likely to have tacky dirt, may encounter a bit of mud or water, or for road riding where reduced friction is prioritized.
Power Drive High Torque Chain Lube - Specially formulated for situations where your chain will be experiencing extreme torque such as race day efforts or for eBikes and eMotos rides. This lube provides the ultimate in friction reduction and resists being displaced by torque forces. Plus, it works as an electrical contact conditioner.
Do I need to wipe off excess lube from my chain immediately or leave on?
Do I need to wipe off excess lube from my chain immediately or leave on?
For our dry conditions lube, we recommend allowing the lube time to deeply penetrate into the rollers of your chain, then allow 60+ minutes for the lube to fully dry, then wipe away the excess.
For our All Conditions and Power Drive lubes, you use a similar procedure, but you only need to wait 5-10 minutes for the lube to penetrate into the rollers and then wipe away.
What’s the difference between Dry Conditions, All Conditions and Power Drive chain lubes?

How often do I need to re-apply lube to my chain?
How often do I need to re-apply lube to my chain?
You can find a deep-dive article in our blog. Below is a quick reference guide:
When properly applied, our lubes will last 200+ miles between applications (depending on weather and riding conditions). Chain lubes will last longest in dry scenarios while wet and muddy conditions will reduce lubrication longevity.
Dry Conditions Lube will need to be reapplied somewhat more frequently but has the best ratio of friction reduction vs dirt resistance vs longevity.
Our All Conditions and Power Drive Lubes have different formulation and are more viscous (thick) and provide a longer interval between applications but more prone to dirt adhesion. As such, you may need to clean your chain and re-lube.
For best results, we recommend using Chain + Drivetrain Cleaner to fully clean your chain before re-lubricating.
Can you use power drive chain lube on a normal bike?
Can you use power drive chain lube on a normal bike?
Most definitely! In fact, we recommend it for race day efforts where ultimate friction reduction is prioritized and where you are going to be cranking out the watts. We highly recommend fully wiping away any excess lube to reduce any dirt adhesion.
Do any of your chain lubes work for motorcycle chains?
Do any of your chain lubes work for motorcycle chains?
Our bike lubes are not formulated for the conditions and forces that a motorcycle chain endures. However, our Power Drive Chain Lube works well for light-duty eMotos (like Surrons and Talarias).
Why do I need a specific lube for my ebike?
Why do I need a specific lube for my ebike?
EBike drivetrains experience higher torque and load forces than a standard road or mountain bike while still using much, if not all, of the same components that aren’t necessarily optimized for the higher torque numbers. As such, we developed our chain lube to provide the most friction protection while adhering strongly to your chain and rollers, and not getting displaced from these extra high forces.
How long should I leave the Chain + Drivetrain Degreaser on for to clean my chain before rinsing?
How long should I leave the Chain + Drivetrain Degreaser on for to clean my chain before rinsing?
For our Chain + Drivetrain Cleaner, thoroughly shake the can, apply to a dirty chain or drivetrain, and allow 5-10 minutes to break up the grease. We’ve formulated to leave a protective hydrophobic coating that allows you to rinse away the gunk while protecting your drivetrain from corrosion.
Can the Chain + Drivetrain Degreaser be used on motorcycle chains?
Can the Chain + Drivetrain Degreaser be used on motorcycle chains?
Certainly! We have tested our Chain + Drivetrain Cleaner on a wide range of chains from bikes to eBikes and eMotos to full on motorcycles. Not only does it get all these chains immaculately clean, but it is also safe on o-rings, z-rings, and x-rings.
What is the best way to clean my brushes and microfiber cloths after cleaning my bike to leave them fresh for the next wash?
What is the best way to clean my brushes and microfiber cloths after cleaning my bike to leave them fresh for the next wash?
We recommend spraying the bristles of the brush with Chain + Drivetrain Cleaner, giving it a few minutes to break down the grease and grime, and then rinsing it thoroughly with water.
For our Ultra Premium Microfiber Cloth, just throw it in your washer and dryer to get back that clean and soft experience. We have confirmed them to last in 300+ washes and counting. We recommend washing it with other dirty rags or towels so as to not soil your clothes and don’t use detergents with any scents or use dryer sheets.
What does "thixatropic" mean and why does it matter for your degreaser?
What does "thixatropic" mean and why does it matter for your degreaser?
Thixotropic means a fluid or gel's viscosity decreases when stress is applied, like when stirred or sprayed. Thixotropic materials can change from a gel-like state to a liquid-like state when force is applied and will return to a more solid state when the force is removed.
For our degreasers this means that they are more gel-like when no force is present and more liquid when experiencing a force.
How does this benefit you and your bike? Our washes and degreasers stay where you spray them instead of quickly running off your bike and puddling on the ground.
Inside the can, the degreaser is more gel-like. As you spray it becomes more liquid allowing it to penetrate deeply into your chain. Once applied, it gels up and allows our Grease Release Technology the time needed to break up the bonds of grease and grime to be rinsed away. This means you get better cleaning with less waste and less effort.
